Photos and info about the track:

It's a real challenge. The beginning and the middle part contains a steep climb-up with 80m ascent, with some technical parts. The total ascent for the 5 km-long course is 220m altogether, which is mainly in the first part of the course. The secont part is dominated by downhills, which - according to many top racers - might result in an increased adrenaline level during a "dry" training.

The ground of the track varies a lot, as the White Hill emerged from the sediment of the sea here a long-long time ago. Grass, soil, clay and sedimental gravel parts vary throughout the course. The solidness of the ground changes continuously, therefore it requires lots of concentration. The course will be signalled on Saturday one week before the race. I advise to be very careful during the first track inspection and do noit ignore the 3 arrow-signs pointing downwards.

Training on the track is highly recommended. Some parts lead by lilacs and stingy bushes, so the chance for a puncture is quite high. Therefore only those should use the lightest and thinnest tyres who have spare wheels in the technical zones. In case of rain, some climb-ups might become "sticky", so it is a good idea to bring mud tyres as well.

The best place for cheering and watching the race is at the steepest climb-up, as only few racers are able to clim up to the top. The real excitement is always the gravel pit and the descending in the forest. Besides that,  the view from the mobile tower is simply beautiful as you can take a look at the town of Balassagyarmat and the nice hills of Cserhát and Börzsöny.

I hope more and more viewers will come and cheer the best mountain bikers from the region and whole Europe, and enjoy the event which is a trailblazer in partnership and co-operation.

Have a successful preparation and good luck in the race!

Viktor Szász, Race Director
